Museum Partnerships
Exploring the Science of Energy
This program is one of several innovative solutions offered by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund.
Interactive Energy Efficiency Exhibits in a Museum Near You
As part of our educational and public outreach, the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and CL&P sponsor several interactive exhibits on energy efficiency around the state. Partnering with key educational museums, science centers, technical high schools and municipalities across the state, these exhibits raise awareness in school-age children, teachers and parents about the economic and environmental benefits of energy efficiency.
Museum Partnership Exhibits
- The Stepping Stones Museum for Children has three permanent energy-efficiency stations in the museum’s popular “In the Works” gallery.
- Connect It! Conserve It!
- An exhibit where children can construct electrical circuits.
- What’s Your Wattage?
- This exhibit allows visitors to compare the energy use of inefficient incandescent lightbulbs to efficient compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
- Gallery Explorations
- A hands-on tour that leads children through various demonstrations regarding energy and its conservation.
- The Connecticut Science Center
- Opening in Spring 2009, the new center will feature a Clean and Efficient Energy Gallery sponsored by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund. The hands-on interactive exhibit gallery will feature an ‘Energy City’ that will educate visitors about climate change and the energy efficient and renewable technologies that exist to combat this global environmental issue. Visitors will travel throughout the ‘Energy City’ to view exhibits on sustainability, energy-efficient windows, passive solar design, residential solar photovoltaic installations, energy-efficient appliances and lights, wind power, biomass, hydropower, fuel cells, real-time energy monitoring systems, daylighting, occupancy sensors and LED traffic lights.
- Permanent energy-efficiency displays are also installed at:
