Quality Installation and Verification (QIV) program
A new heating and cooling system should be saving you energy and money. With the Quality Installation and Verification (QIV) program, you know it is.
Now that’s a comfort.
It’s a fact. More than half of the new central heating and air conditioning systems in U.S. homes do not perform to their rated efficiency. The reason — improperly sized or installed equipment. And that can cost you comfort, dependability and energy efficiency.
How can you be sure you are choosing the right system for your home? Your local utility companies in Connecticut, with support from the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF), are offering Quality Installation and Verification (QIV) through certified contractors, who will get your heating or AC system up and running with maximum efficiency, leaving you worry-free and ready to enjoy a whole new level of comfort.
How to Get it Done Right with Quality Installation and Verification (QIV)
A North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certified contractor will apply QIV guidelines when installing or replacing natural gas heating and air conditioning or heat pump systems using industry specifications developed by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). This helps avoid common problems that often accompany substandard installations such as the wrong size of equipment for your needs, uneven airflow, leaky air ducts and poorly performing equipment — all factors that add up to unpredictable comfort levels, increased energy consumption and shortened equipment life.
Under ENERGY STAR® QIV guidelines, you are assured that your system is:
- Correctly sized to meet the heating/cooling load of your home
- Installed with the proper amount of refrigerant
- Operating with sufficient airflow in the system
- Connected to a well-sealed duct system
- Operating at its rated performance levels
A NATE-certified contractor will provide you with a third-party verified quality installation you expect from a new system. And that helps save energy and our environment, and ensures a comfortable home. Click here to view a list of participating contractors.
A compliance certificate is awarded to you upon verification that the work has been completed successfully according to the guidelines. Use this helpful bid form
