Home Energy Reports

To help residential customers save money by making their homes more efficient and using energy wisely, CL&P has announced the start of the second year of the successful Home Energy Reports pilot program, an Energize Connecticut initiative.  The pilot will run for an additional year beginning August 1, 2012.

CL&P is the first utility in Connecticut to offer this program to its customers.

A total of 17,000 randomly selected CL&P customers will receive customized, detailed information about their home’s energy usage. Mailed in addition to monthly electric bills, the reports will include:

  • Comparison to neighbors: Customers can learn how their electricity use compares to 100 similar-sized homes in their neighborhood. This information is compiled anonymously and provided confidentially. Only the customer can see their personal information.Comparison to Neighbors Chart
  • Progress tracker: Customers can see how their energy use changes over time, so they can set targets for savings.
  • Personalized energy efficiency tips: Customers receive tips chosen specifically for them based on their energy use patterns and characteristics of their home.

Customers also have access to a user-friendly online portal, where they can further customize their energy information, receive additional efficiency tips, set goals and more. The reports and portal are designed to help customers better assess their level of energy consumption, and most importantly, find more ways to reduce their energy use and save money on their electric bill.

Customers can choose to “opt-out” of the program at any time by calling
