Investing In Our Communities

CL&P, Yankee Gas Services, and NU's Transmission Group are dedicated to the vitality of the communities we serve. In 2007, we conducted a review of our corporate giving strategy to ensure that our investments are making a positive difference. As a result of this review, we have identified new priority areas.

CL&P, Yankee Gas Services, and NU's Transmission Group provide community investment grants to organizations located in our service area who are undertaking projects in the following areas:

  • Economic and community development
  • Environmental leadership and stewardship
  • Education and workforce development

Our parent company, Northeast Utilities, supports larger, regional projects through the Northeast Utilities Foundation.

As a company with operations throughout Connecticut, we think it is also important to support health and human service and arts & culture organizations. We do this through our United Way corporate contributions and employee giving programs, as well as our partnership with the Greater Hartford Arts Council.

Finally, we support our employees as they donate their time and talents to a wide variety of organizations, from volunteer fire departments to local PTAs to chambers of commerce. CL&P provides this support through its Dollars for Doers Program.

Dollars for Doers is a community service involvement program that encourages Northeast Utilities System employees to volunteer their time to a nonprofit organization of their choice and have that organization receive a grant on their behalf.
