CT Clean Energy Options is a program that supports clean, renewable energy produced from natural means such as wind, water and other sources. By signing up to participate, you are supporting the development of renewable energy. Electricity delivered to homes in Connecticut is derived from an electric grid that includes a mix of both traditional and renewable sources.
You can choose from two PURA-licensed clean energy companies, Community Energy and Northeast Clean Power, by 3Degrees. To learn more about these two clean energy companies, visit Community Energy or Northeast Clean Power, by 3Degrees.
Yes. The two clean energy companies are licensed by Connecticut's Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) and have been selected through a competitive bid process.
You will continue to receive one monthly bill from CL&P. The clean energy option that you select will appear on your monthly bill as a separate line item. The clean energy company's price will be based upon the price that they provided to you.
The two clean energy companies are independent of CL&P - neither are affiliates of ours. We make no profit from supporting this program or the development of renewable energy sources.
If you select a clean energy option, a premium will be billed in addition to your Standard Service supplier charges and other normal monthly fees already on your CL&P bill. The amount of your clean energy premium is determined by the option you select and is based upon all the electricity that you use for that month.
CL&P will continue to deliver safe, reliable electricity to your home, send your monthly electric bill and restore your electricity during a power outage. This electricity will be supplied by the independent power suppliers that produce electricity for you.
Through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, CL&P offers national award-winning energy-efficiency programs that help customers reduce their energy usage, lower their energy costs, and contribute to helping our environment.
