If you received energy assistance for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2012, you will receive the Energy Assistance Match. The amount of your match depends on how much energy assistance you received, and your account balance as of May 18, 2012.

No. The Energy Assistance Match does not apply if you have already received a match as part of your completion of Phase I of the program. However, if you continue to make your monthly payments and complete Phase II in October of this year, you may receive an additional match as part of the Matching Payment Program.

If you are eligible, the payment will appear as “2012 Energy Assistance Match” on your July billing statement.

The law provides an Energy Assistance Match only for 2012, so there is no guarantee you will receive a match next year. We have no indication whether the legislature will extend the law beyond this year.

You are eligible for a dollar for dollar match of the energy assistance you received as of September 30, 2012.  That match amount may be reduced depending on your account balance as of May 18, 2012 which coincides with the last day customer payments were accepted to complete Phase I of the Matching Payment Program.

You will still receive an Energy Assistance Match up to a zero balance on your electric or gas account.  As long as you continue to meet the qualifications for MPP you will be eligible to enroll again in November 2012.

Yes. If you were on the NUStart Program and the Energy Assistance Match reduced your account balance to zero, you were sent a completion letter and your account was placed on a regular budget plan.

Recent state legislation provides an additional matching payment — called “Energy Assistance Match” — for customers who received energy assistance for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2012. The Energy Assistance Match is applied to eligible customers’ electric or gas service accounts, up to a zero balance. The amount of your match depends on how much energy assistance you received, and your account balance as of May 18, 2012.

Accounts on a budget were temporarily removed from the budget plan so that we could apply the Energy Assistance Match. Your budget amount may increase or decrease, depending on your usage.
