Small Business Energy Advantage

Innovative Solutions

This program is one of several innovative solutions offered by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and administered by CL&P.

Giving Small Business a Competitive Edge

In today’s competitive environment, energy efficiency is a key element in maintaining a healthy bottom line. The Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA) program is designed to provide cost-effective, turnkey energy-saving services for small commercial and industrial customers who do not have the time, financial resources, or in-house expertise necessary to analyze and modify their energy usage. With support from the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, you now have the financial assistance that will enable you to determine your energy future. You can make decisions based on efficient technology that will benefit your business in the long term.

Who’s Eligible?

  • Commercial and industrial customers with an average 12-month peak demand between 10 kilowatts (kW) and up to 200 kW.
  • Municipal facilities that meet the above criteria.

How Does the Program Work?

  • The first step is to call 1-877-WISE-USE to be connected with a SBEA Program Administrator. After you are qualified, we will put you in touch with a CL&P-qualified contractor.
  • The contractor will conduct a no-cost energy assessment of your facility to determine potential energy-saving actions. CL&P’s energy-experts will work with the contractor to prepare a proposal detailing the proposed measures, the estimated energy savings and the complete cost. The SBEA program uses financial incentives to offset the project’s cost and zero-percent financing options to cover the balance. The energy-efficiency improvements translate into monthly electric bill savings that typically result in a low out-of-pocket investment and a quick payback.
  • Once the papers are signed by all parties, the contractor can perform the work. After the project is completed, the measures are inspected and verified by CL&P. It’s a straightforward, turnkey process that will enable you to start realizing benefits right away.
